Fun Indoor Winter Activities For Kids

Keeping your kids entertained when it's too cold to head out for a romp in the snow can be quite a challenge. You’ve got to have a few tricks up your sleeve to do it right. From whipping up some snacks to watching winter-themed movies, here are some ideas on how you can keep your little ones occupied when spending winter indoors.

   1..Make Winter-Themed Snacks And Drinks

If you enjoy baking, gather your little ones in the kitchen to make snowman cupcakes or snowman cookies. If you can't be bothered to bake, choose to make other winter-themed treats such as sledding snowman graham crackers, string cheese snowmen, cinnamon sugar snowflakes, and snowman ice cream sundaes. Hot cocoa is a classic winter drink, but you can make it more festive with cool whip snowflakes.

   2Indoor Snowball Fight

Don't let the cold stop you from having a snowball fight with your kids! Roll up white socks, balls of paper, or get your craft on by making your fabric snowballs. Give each child a couple of these indoor snowballs and encourage them to toss them at each other (gently). After the indoor snowball fight, you can use the balls to play a tossing game or catch.

   3Watch Winter-Themed Movies

One of the simplest ways to keep your kids warm and entertained when it is blistering cold outside is snuggling up under cozy blankets and popping in a winter-themed movie. Kid-friendly winter-themed titles you might want to check out include Jack Frost, Eight Below, Frozen, and Snow Day.

   4. Play Winter Games

Games are a great way to entertain bored kids on a cold, snowy day. Choose games that have a winter theme, such as a winter bingo game, a winter-themed piñata, pin the beak on the penguin (a twist of the classic pin the tail on the donkey game), and musical ice blocks (get creative by wrapping cardboard boxes in white paper

   5Build An Indoor Snowman

You don't need to go outdoors to build a snowman; make an indoor one by stuffing large white pillowcases with old clothes or pillow stuffing and using Velcro to stack them as well as to stick nose, eyes, and button to the "snowman".

   6. Create A Blanket Fort

Spark your children's imagination by busting out the blankets and cushion and making a blanket fort in your living room. Once you set it up, encourage your kids to take part in some imaginative play – the fort could be a jungle, a pirate's layer, or even secret agent headquarters.

   7. Set Up A Variety Of Indoor Activity Stations

Help your kids burn off some energy by setting up indoor activity stations. Simply make signs for the activities, which may include balancing activities, jumping jacks, and planks. To make it more fun, set a timer, and make it competitive.

   8. Sing And Dance To Christmas Tunes

A simple yet fun way to entertain your kids indoors on a snowy day is to sing and dance to Christmas tunes. Join in and play upbeat classics such as "Santa Claus is coming to town" and "Jingle Bells".

Final Thoughts

With these activities in mind, you and your little ones won’t be bored when it’s too cold to get out of the house. The best part is that most of them are great for rainy days as well. Plus, in addition to being fun, they can also help parents and kids to bond and enjoy each other's company!
