Tips to Make Baby's First Thanksgiving Special

Thanksgiving is all about expressing gratitude and giving thanks. If your little one is going to have her first Thanksgiving this year, there is clearly a lot to be thankful for. After all, babies are life’s treasures and a source of true joy. Besides, this year’s Thanksgiving will probably be the first time most of your extended family and friends will get to meet her for the first time.

So how do you make this special day feel even more special? Well, here are a few tips to help you take your little one’s first Thanksgiving day to the next level:

1. Record a Thanksgiving Video for Her

One of the best (and easiest!) things you can do for your little one’s first Thanksgiving is to record a video keepsake for her. Try to capture all the beautiful moments of the day, such as her reaction the first time she sees the turkey. Capture her taking bites of all the food, and perhaps taking a nap after a hearty meal at the end of the day. Be sure to also ask everyone present to record a quick message for her that she will receive in the future. You can then compile everything into a beautiful heartfelt video that your little one will cherish for the rest of her life.

2. Let Her Get a Taste of Thanksgiving

If you have already started your baby on solids, let her get a taste of Thanksgiving. She will enjoy tasting all the new foods and flavors. Before the rest of the family eats, take some time to feed your little one Thanksgiving food favorites like squash, pumpkin, and potatoes.

3. Thanksgiving Photoshoot

You can also plan a mini Thanksgiving photoshoot for the whole family. Set it up with fall colors (oranges, browns, yellows), and add leaves, pumpkins, and hay. Combined, these will create a stunning Thanksgiving backdrop for your photos. While at it, make sure you dress her up in a cute Thanksgiving outfit

4. Get a Special Thanksgiving Bib

Whether your little one is in her special Thanksgiving outfit or not, you still want to protect her clothes. One of the best ways to do it is by using a special Thanksgiving bib. They are a great way to add a bit of fun to her outfit. Plus, the photos you take will look absolutely adorable!

5. Buy Her a Special Book

A great way to hang out with your little one on her first Thanksgiving is by reading to her. There are lots of cute picture books that will help you do this on Thanksgiving. Get one that has black-and-white illustrations for younger children or one with lots of different textures that your little one can explore on her own.

6. Start a New Tradition

Your little one’s first Thanksgiving is the perfect time to start a new Thanksgiving day tradition. Great ideas include taking a walk together to the woods or the park, measuring everyone’s height on the door, writing down things that you are thankful for, or doing anything else that will remind you of the special time you had as a family.

7. Watch a Thanksgiving Day Parade

Another simple idea that will make your little one’s first Thanksgiving special is simply watching a Thanksgiving day parade on TV. Let your baby watch the parade with the rest of the family. As they do, take lots of pictures!

Final Thoughts

As you can see, making your baby’s first Thanksgiving a special and memorable one is not difficult. With the ideas outlined here, it should be even easier for you to pull off. Happy Thanksgiving!
